Set it and forget it. Once you’ve closed the lid to pressure cook, you can leave the Instant Pot to do the work. No need to monitor a pot on the stove (especially handy if you have kids running through the kitchen!).
Achieve incredible flavour in less time. Pressure cooking allows flavours to develop more quickly, similar to a soup that’s been simmered for hours on the stovetop.
Easily prepare large batches for meal prep and freezing. We love to use our 8-quart Instant Pot to double up recipes. We stocked our freezer with meals like my Instant Pot Turkey Chili before welcoming our third child last year.
General Tips for Success
All of the recipes below are well tested and follow these principles:
Deglaze after sauté. This is generally a good practice with any Instant Pot recipe. Food that is stuck to the insert can cause a burn warning as the pot comes to pressure.
Layer and don’t stir. Many recipes will strategically use layers to keep tomato-based and thick ingredients away from the bottom of the insert. This helps to prevent a burn warning.
Use adequate seasoning. Because pressure cooking is done in a sealed environment that needs thin liquid to produce steam, you need to add more seasoning than you would if you were cooking on the stovetop. Stovetop cooking has more evaporation that helps to concentrate flavour vs. pressure cooking.
