Welcome to The Recipe Well!
Do you struggle getting dinner on the table each night? Do you work outside the home and have a crazy long commute? Are extracurriculars and homework taking up most of your evenings? Or, maybe you’d rather spend time on things other than cooking, even though you want to put a healthy meal on the table for your family.
I hear you. I am you.
My name is Laura and I use my nutrition degree to create easy recipes and provide meal prep tips for people with limited time to cook.
What you will find on The Recipe Well
The Recipe Well has a mix of meals that come together quickly for weeknights, along with recipes designed to be made ahead and reheated throughout the week. I love my slow cooker and Instant Pot and use them strategically to get as much hands-off time as possible. I also hate doing dishes, so I favour recipes that don’t make a mess of my entire kitchen.
This site doesn’t focus on a particular diet, but I like to create lightened up versions of classic recipes. I really enjoy vegan and vegetarian food and many of my friends are gluten free, so I’m always dreaming up meals for them. Oh, and I add vegetables to almost everything because I’m a total nutrition geek (more on that below).
I can help you become a meal prep whiz
One of the best things you can do for your health is eat home cooked meals more often. On The Recipe Well, I’ll give you the recipes and strategies to make this happen for your family.
Most of my professional life has been in the finance and strategy field. I had to find ways to be efficient in the kitchen, while managing a big corporate job and more than two hours commuting each day (…did I mention I’m from the Toronto area? Commutes here are terrible.)
But my real passion is nutrition. Throughout my twenties, my interest in nutrition grew so strong that I decided to leave my finance job and go back to school. I fast-tracked through a 4-year science degree in Applied Human Nutrition at the University of Guelph and graduated with honours in 2015.
I’m also married and a mom to two young girls. I understand what it’s like to try to cook with a toddler latched to my leg like a koala, and a baby that wants to be held 24/7.
My background in nutrition combined with the busy life of a working parent have given me the knowledge and skills to help you find your happy place in the kitchen.
You can find me on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest. Be sure to sign up for my newsletter, where I’ll be sharing weekly recipe plans and meal prep tips.
